W. Knight & Son has been a well-known and respected name within the Reigate area for over 100 years. Originally founded in 1909, it was bought in 1964 by David Reeves Snr, who ran it with the help of his wife, Mabel. The following year they had a son, David Jnr. As he got older young David began accompanying his father to site and to the office, learning the different trades at an early age. There’s a drawing in Reigate borough council offices for Planning Permission done by David Jnr when he was only 12yrs old.
After finishing school David Jr went on to NESCOT to complete a Diploma in Building Studies. He then took over the firm, ably assisted by his wife Judith, from his father in 1991 when David Snr retired. More recently David Jnr’s son, Josiah, has joined the firm, perpetuating the father/son business.
